Encina Entrepreneurial Program
What Is It?
The Encina Entrepreneurial Program provides students with opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors by the process of starting and operating his or her own sole proprietor small business. Students work together in two-five person teams to develop business plans according to local banking business lending criteria. Rotarians act in the capacity of business consultants and volunteers for one 2-hour session.

How Can You Participate?
>Volunteer to meet with students.

Tour of Businesses
What Is It?
Approximately three tours of local companies during the term. Point West Rotarians who have participated have had the opportunity to tour the Shriner's Hospital, the new Airport Terminal, the UCD Medical Center and, best yet, the Crystal Creamery (with samples).

Speech Contest
What Is It?
This is a district wide competition. Each year the district announces the topic for the contest. The initial competition is held at the club level. The winner of the contest continues on to district competition.

The chairperson for the speech contest coordinates with the local high schools to arrange for students who might be interested in participating and introduces the students who will be participating at the breakfast meeting. The winning student is chosen by a panel of members and continues on to compete at the district level.
